I have misplaced the owners manual.

Should I decompress and drain my Porter Cable air compressor after each use?

If yours was a shop compressor Briguy, using it every day, and having the auto drain discharge moisture at regular intervals, then you have no problem.

The home workshop compressor doesn't get used every day, typically. It may not get used every month, even.

So, if you don't get into the habit of opening the tank drain valve and allowing all the water to blow out, then you end up with a puddle of water inside the tank until you do get around to draining it, and the puddle of water starts working on rusting the tank.

So yes, in my opinion, it's a good habit to get into. Open the tank drain and blow out the water until it stops coming out. If there is still air in the tank, then shut the drain and save that air for next time.
